Dr. Katie McLean (she/her) is a licensed psychologist and health service provider in North Carolina. She offers psychological assessments and psychotherapy to children, adults, and families across the state. Dr. McLean has extensive experience helping clients with mood challenges, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, and grief.
Dr. McLean is especially passionate about supporting individuals and families dealing with acute and chronic illness. Her therapeutic approach is warm and evidence-based, recognizing that each client and family requires a unique treatment plan. She often uses a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and behavioral parent training. Collaboration with clients and families is a key component of the therapeutic process.
Dr. McLean completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Spanish at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, making her a proud Tar Heel. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on Pediatric Psychology, from the University of Miami. Dr. McLean completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she served on the faculty in the Departments of Pediatrics. She returned to North Carolina as a faculty member at the Wake Forest School of Medicine in the Departments of Pediatrics and Endocrinology. In her free time, Dr. McLean enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with her family.
